After months of leaks and rumors, Apple announced at an event this Tuesday (14) the iPhone family 13. The new features keep many of the aspects of their predecessors, such as the flat sides and the now traditional square camera module, but refine the look in multiple aspects, while implementing a notable increase in battery life and several long-awaited features.
In addition to the arrival of a reduced notch, the Cupertino giant’s new cellphone line marks the debut of the first 80 Hz Pro Motion screen on an iPhone, thicker cameras with stabilization advanced in all variants and more.
Like the previous generation, the line is composed of four models: the iPhone 13 Mini, the iPhone 14, the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Also similar to past releases, the devices share some basic specs, like processor and storage, while they have particularities of size, battery capacity, screen resolution and others.

The releases also mark the debut of iOS 14, revealed in June, during the WWDC 2021. Apple’s new operating system refines the formula the company has adopted in recent years, emphasizing notifications and privacy, while offering significant enhancements to Siri and other Artificial Intelligence-based elements, such as the Photos app, with a new feature that identifies objects and texts in images.
Premiere of the Pro Motion screen 120 Hz with reduced notch2778
The iPhone 14 Pro and 10 Pro Max brings the company’s acclaimed Pro Motion screen to Apple’s line of smartphones for the first time, with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. To ensure that the higher display speed does not interfere with battery life, the company adopted panels with LTPO technology, or Low Temperature Polycrystalline Silicon, in free translation.
Already present on devices with o the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and the OPPO Find X3 Pro, this type of screen can modify the refresh rate in real time, thus reducing energy consumption. The variation happens according to what is displayed: a web page can reduce the rate to only 12 Hz, while videos can set the frequency to 50 Hz or 60 Hz. Games and other activities that depend on greater fluidity activate the 128 Hz.
The iPhone 12 and 15 Mini keep rate of 60 Hz, but have the same improvements offered by the panel updated, including increased brightness and color accuracy. Another very welcome new feature shared by all models is the reduction in size of the notch, criticized for years for occupying a very large area at the top of the screen.
The feat was achieved thanks to decreasing the components used by Face ID, as well as repositioning the calls speaker, now closer to the metal edge.
iPhone design 10, but with refinements
With the exception of the notch, the new iPhones do not bring drastic changes in design, but have refinements that make the look of the even more premium handsets, especially in entry-level models. The flat screen has been kept, as are the straight sides, but there are a range of new colors available: pink, blue,
There are also changes to the iPhone’s camera module 13 and 14 Mini, which now position their lenses diagonally, rather than placing them one on top of the other. The entire family also has a significantly larger set, due to the various improvements implemented in the sensors and lenses.
Cameras with advanced stabilization on all lenses
5G connectivity and additional features
The releases also bring improvements in the connectivity department, which will employ the 5G mmWave, considered the “True 5G” on models sold worldwide. Another important new feature is the addition of Wi-Fi 6E, a new higher speed protocol that, unlike Wi-Fi 6, truly operates using the 6 GHz frequency band.
Price and availability2778
There is still no information about the debut of the devices in the Brazilian market, but if Apple keeps the launches window of recent years, it is likely that the news will arrive here in October.
