Possible Green seat in Killaloe as O’Halloran, O’Donovan and Burke set to contest final seat

You can set your watch by Joe Cooney. The Fine Gael councillors looks set to top the poll in Killaloe in a landslide. Sitting councillors Pat Hayes (FF), Tony O’Brien (FF) and Alan O’Callaghan (FF) all look in good shape to retain their seats but Pat Burke (FG) faces a major challenge from Ger O’Halloran (FG) and Barry O’Donovan (G). A late rally from Burke in the tallies saw him surpass O’Halloran and O’Donovan but it is still very much all to play for going into this evening’s count. Surprise package Joe Floyd (IND) polled well, securing 518 votes according to the tally ahead of Beckha Doyle (SD) and Sean Naughton (SF). This election may well be decided by Joe Cooney’s surplus and whether that stays in the party or the geographic area.
