Dooley and Harty within touching distance after first count

Timmy Dooley (FF) and Michael Harty (Ind) are on the verge in Clare, with both candidates within touching distance of a quota after the first count.

Dooley is needs just 1,200 votes to see him home with Michael Marty a further 1,300 votes behind. Both Pat Breen (FG) and Joe Carey (FG) are looking in better condition than the tallies had suggested – with Carey now 1,300 votes ahead of Michael ‘Malty’ McDonagh in fifth place.

The 800 votes of Richard Cahill (Ind), Andre Hakizimana (Ind) and Dermot Mulqueen (Ind) are now to be distributed.
