InisFest gets the green light

The organisers of INIS Fest today confirmed that the music festival will take place at Ennis Showgrounds in County Clare on June 26-28, 2015.
The festival was originally planned for Active Ennis Tim Smythe Park but was subsequently postponed due to opposition from a small number of local residents.
Organised by Impresario Events, the inaugural event features Nathan Carter, Damien Dempsey, Delorentos, Hermitage Green, Mundy, Rackhouse Pilfer and more acts to be announced.
The three-day festival will see Ennis Showgrounds being transformed into a world-class venue with a 3,000-person capacity big top tent and an entertainment and leisure area featuring food and drink stalls.
INIS Fest tickets go on sale from and from the Inis Fest Booking Office at Upper O’Connell Street from this Saturday, May 16.
Tickets are priced at €27 (1 night) and €50 (2 nights) with a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to local charities Clare Crusaders, Lions Club of Ennis and Rape Crisis MidWest. INIS Fest also includes a free family music event on Sunday afternoon in addition to the ticketed evening events of INIS Rock (Friday) and INIS Country (Saturday).
“We received overwhelming support from the wider public following our decision to defer holding the event last month. Thanks to Clare Agricultural Show Society and the ongoing support of Clare County Council, the Fire Service, An Garda Síochána, Clare Civil Defence and the public we are delighted to announce that an alternative event venue has now been secured,” explained Darren Purtill of Impresario Events.
“We believe that INIS Fest is a hugely positive event which not only provides the people of Clare and surrounding counties with a fantastic music festival right on their doorstep but also promotes the Clare County Capital as a vibrant and interesting place to visit. Our intention is to establish INIS Fest as an annual feature on the local and national festivals calendar.
“The first INIS Fest will see two differently themed days and a free family music event allowing for a rich musical mix and allowing us to suit all ages and musical tastes. As well as hosting some of the Irish music industry’s biggest names, we will also be giving local bands an opportunity to play on a big stage.
“With just six weeks to go we urge people to secure their tickets once they go on sale this Saturday as demand is expected to be considerable,” added Mr Purtill.
INIS Rock on Friday, June 26, features Damien Dempsey, Delorentos, Hermitage Green. INIS Country on Saturday, June 27, features Nathan Carter, Mundy, Rackhouse Pilfer and more acts to be announced.
The free family music event on the afternoon of Sunday, June 28, will feature a host of local music acts including Voice of Ireland Finalist Sarah McTernan, Los Paddys de las Pampas, The Fake McCoys, Ennis Gospel Choir, The Piebald Ponies, David Hope, Damien Gormley, Tony Benn, Purple Ocean and many more.
INIS Fest is being sponsored by Dublin Coach (Official Travel Partner), Clare FM Radio (Official Media Partner), McDonalds Ennis and Shannon, Treacys West County Hotel, Flynns Pharmacy, Manix Menswear, Fairgreen Stoves, Knoxs Pub & Restaurant, O’Keeffe Electrical Ennis and Realprint, and supported by Clare Show Society, Clare County Council, An Garda Síochána and Clare Civil Defence.
