Suspected fire bomb attack at Ennis Courthouse

GARDAÍ in Ennis are probing a suspected fire bomb attack at Ennis Courthouse in the early hours of the morning.
A bottle and traces of an accelerant were discovered in the Family Law courtroom between 3.30am and 4am.The courtroom is located at the rear of the building on the ground floor. The bottle was thrown through a window just yards from the door to the Judge’s chamber.
No one was injured in the incident. A window was broken and minor smoke damage was caused to the basement area of the building. The area of the Courthouse was closed this morning to facilitate repairs.
Gardaí in Ennis are investigating the incident and have studied CCTV footage of the front and rear of the Courthouse building. No one has been arrested. The attack comes just days before the resumption of the regular sittings of Ennis District Court on Wednesday.
The room which was the subject of the attack houses the Family Law court and some sittings of the Circuit Court.
