Clare’s Seadna Morey Named Bord Gáis Energy Breaking Through Player of the Year 2012

Following their historic All-Ireland win, Clare’s Under 21 hurlers had more cause for celebration today as left half back Seadna Morey was chosen to receive the 2012 Bord Gáis Energy Breaking Through Player of the Year award at a dedicated awards ceremony in Croke Park.

The Sixmilebridge man was honoured from a short list which included fellow Clare players Patrick O’Connor and Tony Kelly.  Morey was an outstanding member of the Clare side and received the Man of the Match award for his performance in the semi-final victory over Antrim.

At the award presentation, Bord Gáis Energy Sports Ambassador Ger Cunningham said, “Seadna displayed all the characteristics of a quality back in the Munster Semi-Final and Final, but was also able to chip in with a score or two when needed. However in the All-Ireland Semi-Final and Final we all felt that he brought his play to another level and for this level of consistency, it was hard to ignore Seadna.”

Previous winners include Clare’s Darach Honan (2009), Tipperary’s Seamus Hennessy (2010) and Cork’s Aidan Walsh (2011).
