Engines at the ready. The start of the great early year rush of releases is almost upon us and already things are looking promising. Yet before the mailstorm of CD’s, bubble-wrap and postage stamps let’s take a moment to survey a little taster from Offaly new boy Wayne Brennan.
Ahead of the release of his debut album In My Hands (due out May 1 God willing) Brennan is testing the water with the release of Please Please. A good introduction for any singer/songwriter, it’s instantly catchy while hinting at an as yet unseen deeper, rawer element.
Though folky at his heart, Brennan likes nothing better than to show off his undoubted skills with the guitar and take off into an 80’s rock style refrain. None of that here though as the Offaly man shoots straights and hits as near as makes no difference to the target. A good taste of what’s to come.
