Alale are a new and energetic band that has originated from the vibrant, youthful music scene in Galway. Formed in 2006, the band comprises of four musicians, two Spanish and two Irish. Ciaran O Donughue provides the sounds of Uileann Pipes and Flutes with the other Melody is provided by Gabriel Wandelmer on Flute, Low Whistles and Tin Whistle.
Providing a constant rhythmic sound behind these two impressive musicians are David Cardona on Bodhran and Fergal Walsh on Guitar and Bouzouki.
From the very start this album is very energetic and kind of reminds me of a young “Flook” due to the main instruments been used. This album provides a combination of different influences and styles. With plenty of new compositions there is no doubt that this is a band on a mission to their own original sound. Also the Spanish element is well represented with some very catchy Iberian pieces.
All in all this is a very impressive debut album that I think will impress many different musical tastes. I look forward to hearing more from them in the future.
