Basically, you are given a transfer budget of €100 million to pick a
team of 15 players which must include a goalkeeper, seven backs and
seven forwards from the senior clubs around Clare. To assist your
decision, ten players from each senior club involved in the senior
championships have been given a monetary value and the only
restrictions are that you are only allowed to pick two players per club
and you must pick 15 players in total to the value of or below €100
million. You can also choose players that are not on the list and these
players are capped at a value of 3m.
There are two separate competitions to choose from (or both if you
wish), one for the Clare senior football championship and one from the
Clare senior hurling championship. It is a unique method to prove to
your friends, workmates, family or maybe even your club that you have
what it takes to astutely pick out the form players from this year’s
championships.
Format:
-
Each entrant has a transfer budget of €100 million to pick a team of
15 players to include a goalkeeper, 7 backs and 7 forwards. Ten players
from each club are valued and the only restriction is that the entrant
is only allowed to pick two players per club (eg two Crusheen players,
two Doonbeg players)
-
Some players can play in several different positions so in order to
alleviate this problem, we propose to individually value the 10 most
prominent players from each club and cap the rest at a value of 3m.
Along with valuing each player, we will state whether the player is to
be a back or a forward, thus ending all speculation. So if a back does
actually play in the forwards, he will be given points as if he were
still a back.
-
The competition will only include the Clare senior A football and
hurling championship and does not include the senior B and relegation
games.
Scoring:
-
Based on the Clare People ratings for every championship game, each
player will receive the equivalent points as per their rating. So if a
player receives a 6 rating, he will receive 6 points and so on. Any
substitute who is not on the field long enough to receive a rating,
gets an automatic 4 points.
- An additional ten points will be awarded for the man of the match award as provided in the paper for each game.
- Any
goalkeeper or back whose team keeps a clean sheet scores an extra 5
points. If a team lets in one goal, the back/goalkeeper scores a 0 and
any additional goal will deduct a further point. For example: 1 goal, 0
points. 2 goals, -1 point, 3 goals, -2 points and so on.
- For
goals and points, any player who scores a goal whether from play or
from a placed ball scores 5 points. Any player who scores a point from
a placed ball scores only 1 point. For forwards, to score a point from
play gets him 2 points and for a back/goalkeeper, he will receive 4
points for any point from play.
- If a penalty is missed or saved, the goalkeeper will score an additional 5 points.
- Any player sent off is deducted -3 regardless if he receives two yellows or a straight red.
- Any
player who comes on as a substitute at any time scores or loses points
as if he had played all 60 minutes. Players subbed off also score or
lose points in normal fashion regardless of how long they were on the
pitch.
- The rules remain the same for games involving extra-time. Replays are counted as separate games.
- The winner will be the team with the most points after the completion of the county finals in both codes.
Hints and Tips:
Values are predominantly decided on by last year’s player scores. Some
of these players are injured or will miss some of the championship. It
is up to each participant to know the status of each of his/her players.
Each participant is not restricted to the list below. Alternatively it
is possible to choose any player not listed below to supplement your
team. All players not on this list are capped at 3m. See sample team
provided below.
All hurling entries must be in by Friday, May 30.
