IT’S EASY to hop on a high stool/horse after the ball game is over. It’s happening all over planet rugby this week as “the four proud provinces of Ireland” as Phil Coulter calls them come home from Parc de Princes with their heads bowed. Easier again to say that Rugby World Cup 2007 didn’t move the 19th on the bar stool these past four weeks. Hard to be moved by an event and a team that was overblown by Ross O’Carroll Kelly-types in the Dublin media who built up the Irish team as world beaters on the back of beating an out of sorts England in Croke Park last Spring. There are a number of other reasons too. Where to start is the only question. You could go back to slow Eddie’s mis-adventure to Argentina during the summer.
