Miltown secure semi-final spot
Written by Jerome Hogan

Cusack Cup Round 7

St Joseph’s Miltown 0-12  -  Kilrush Shamrocks 0-7 at Kilrush

It’s difficult to read too much into this result, as Kilrush were without the services of up to one third of the team. Miltown can also claim to have been without some familiar faces due to injury, but this was still a game both teams simply had to win.
In effect, it was a quarter-final game with a semi final place the incentive for Miltown if they won and a play-off spot to get into the semis on offer for Kilrush. The Miltown win also does Liscannor a favour as they now, too, have secured a semi final place.
On Sunday, their game with Éire Óg was called off due to the death of club stalwart Michael Harold and the result of the re-fixture won’t have any bearing on who stays up or who progresses to the knock-out stages.
