clare cup final preview
Over the weekend, Francis Daniels sat down and tried to put his finger on what, exactly, has propelled his side to the Cup Final. Like each trek to the summit, the journey has its own twists and turns, it’s own unique story.
For Daniels, the common dust sprinkled over the track has the been the sheer, raw focus that he felt each time Rock Rovers lined out in this season’s cup.
It began with victory over Newtown, way back in mid-February at a time when Newtown were riding high. That victory, though, wasn’t the only occasion Rock needed their slingshot. Shannon Olympic – playing some of the best football in Division 1 – lay in wait for Rock in the following round and after they came away with a tight but well-earned victory, the season’s pieces suddenly began to click.
