Fifteen-year-old Aura, from Barcelona, was determined to perfect her English so she left sunny Spain for Ireland’s greyer climes almost a year ago and has been living it up Irish style ever since.

NOWADAYS, English is a hurdle for everyone who wants to get a decent job in a big city like Barcelona and, for that reason, since primary school all the schools teach it. However, the only way to really improve your English is moving to an English-speaking country on your own.
It was very difficult for me to convince my parents because we have a very good relationship and I’m just 15 years old. But finally, my parents, making a huge sacrifice, allowed me because they knew it would be a very good experience for me to get to know a new culture and a different language and make myself more mature. We decided on Ireland as the destination because Irish people are well-known all over the world as very nice, friendly and welcoming people. Once I got here, I checked it myself and I strongly agree.
