Sometimes I have to smile. Sometimes I get totally perplexed about how some people perceive things. You see I met a few individuals over ten days who are involved with Dublin and Meath footballers. Not players now but let’s describe them for the purposes of “Ball Hop” as “backroom staff”. Amazingly, both groups saw nothing essentially wrong with the outburst of fisticuffs or to put it more bluntly violence that erupted during the Dublin v Meath NFL game in Parnell Park. Incredible as it may seem it was described as “harmless”, “handbag”, “not one decent punch thrown...one blow from Bernard Dunne and they’d all run a mile” and the best of all...the crème de la crème...it was all the media’s fault and especially RTE’s”.
