A CLARE businessman who transported more than €3 million worth of drugs for a criminal gang after he fell into financial difficulty has been jailed for six years. The haul, which included 10 kilos of cocaine, 18 kilos of amphetamine, 269 kilos of cannabis resin and 30,000 ecstacy tablets, was one of the biggest ever seized in Clare. The accused, Thomas Lennon (36), a father of five, of Killestry, Killaloe, borrowed money from criminals after he ran into difficulties with his construction business. He was unable to pay his €10,000 wage bill at Christmas 2005 and went outside the banking system to raise the money. Registration is required to view this content, registration is FREE |

Apr 30 2008 23:10:54 For being so stupid he should have been given 20 years hard labour. Look at all the mayhem and suffering he was contributing to. He'll be out in less than 3 years. If he was caught in Turkey he'd have gotten 200 years like poor aul Joxer Cunningham who was nabbed with a block of hash the size of a half pound of butter.
