THERE were angry calls for Minister for Health, Mary Harney to resign at yesterday’s meeting of Ennis Town Council. Growing uncertainty over the status of €39 million funding set aside for Ennis General Hospital led councillors to demand that Taoiseach-in-waiting Brian Cowen seek Ms Harney’s resignation. Cllr Frankie Neylon (Ind) proposed that the council write to the current Minster for Finance. Cllr Neylon was supporting a motion put forward by Clones Town Council calling for an ombudsman to be appointed at the Department of Health.
