Councillors call for Harney to resign
Written by Ronan Judge
THERE were angry calls for Minister for Health, Mary Harney to resign at yesterday’s meeting of Ennis Town Council. Growing uncertainty over the status of €39 million funding set aside for Ennis General Hospital led councillors to demand that Taoiseach-in-waiting Brian Cowen seek Ms Harney’s resignation.
Cllr Frankie Neylon (Ind) proposed that the council write to the current Minster for Finance. Cllr Neylon was supporting a motion put forward by Clones Town Council calling for an ombudsman to be appointed at the Department of Health.

Someone should tell those politicians that if they want to keep their jobs, they should leave the hospital in Ennis as it is.
