LAST week’s Open Letter to the Ard Stiuraitheoir provoked some feedback, much of it positive, albeit that one irate reader screamed down the phone the other day that yours truly was (to quote him directly with a few asterix inserted) “pulling the p*** out of Clare football”. And there was more - essentially that yours truly should “f*** off down to Kerry and send us back a few footballers”. There it was, my friends. Another column exploring the possibility of tapping into Kerry’s reservoir for the greater good of Clare football. After all, in the past Clare have turned to men like Dick Fitzgerald, Johnny Walsh, John O’Keeffe, John Kennedy and Páidí Ó Sé for inspiration - a Famous Five with no fewer than 28 All-Ireland medals between them.
