Dear Ard Stiúraitheoir, First off let me congratulate you on your accession to the administrative throne of the Gah. I know it’s a belated chomghairdeashas and mo bhrón on that, but best of good luck to you as you steer the good ship forward over the next couple of years. We live in interesting times, what with the creeping onset of professionalism in ‘Our Games’, the perceived wisdom that there is a problem of player burnout, not to mind the rights and wrongs of county boards in Clare, Kerry and Westmeath, to name but three, who are cashing in on the cash-cows that are their county grounds. But the moral behind this little missive has nothing to do with professionalism. (If players do eventually get their cúpla punt for playing ‘Our Games’, more power to their hurleys and balls.)
