Quinn - a temporary departure?
Written by Marty Morrissey
In fairness things are improving. We got to March this year with the Clare Senior hurlers devoid of any major controversy. In comparison to 2007, it’s been a smooth ride so far. As a journalist I now have three choices for the rest of this section of my column. I can go the factual route, take the cynical option or the analytical perspective. Just for the crack I’ll do all three.
I spoke to Gerry Quinn yesterday and he assured me quite categorically that his departure from the Clare Senior Hurling squad was a temporary measure. His hip has been causing him a serious problem and rest from training and competitive action would undoubtedly help. On a professional level he has just changed jobs and taken up a new appointment last week with Philip O’Reilly Estate agents in the town of Ennis and combining that with the closing down of his own outlet is time consuming as you can imagine. Adding to his busy schedule he’s also decided to move house as the attraction of country living on the farm in Corofin is too much for him to reject.
