The 19th (11-3-08)
Written by Joe O'Muircheartaigh
THERE was a small step forward taken for Clare hurling this week, but it’s safe to say that the move in the rich direction may have slipped under the radar of many aficionados of the ancient game around the county.
You could call it a conversion by the Clare minor hurling management - not on their road to Damascus but on their journey to the Munster minor championship first round game on 30 March against Cork.
Alas, before you fans out there -those  who preach GAA inclusiveness in Clare by advocating the right of minor players to play both hurling and football at county level - begin praising the Lord, you should hold your hurleys and footballs.
The small step, that’s a major advancement at the same time, wasn’t a decision by the minor management to revoke its early season ultimatum to players that they couldn’t be members of both the minor hurling and football panels.
