I suppose I really am a sentimental old fool behind it all. You see I admit to having a grá for Sixmilebridge. Was there some babe there that broke my heart in the past? No. But there were a few there I fancied all right and never got my hands on! But I digress... Way back in 1984 when I did my first commentary for my own club on a wet and windy October Sunday in Doonbeg, I genuinely thought it was a once off. Great crack and enjoyed the experience and all that but never would do one again, I said to myself. Within four weeks I was heading down to Semple Stadium for a Munster Club Hurling Final between Sixmilebridge and Patrickswell. The Bridge won their first Munster title that day with great stars like Sean Stack, Pat Morey, Jamsie Keogh, Flan Quilligan, Gerry McInerney, PJ Fitzpatrick, John and Danny Chaplin, Paddy Collins.
