Player power wins the day in Cork
Written by Marty Morrissey
Hopefully by the time you are reading this today the Cork Rebel struggle will be over.  A total of 98 days were consumed in what appeared to me at least to be a quite bitter and personal dispute at times. The essence of the row, which revolved around allowing the manager to pick his own selectors, seemed to be lost in a sea of recriminations, vendettas and agendas. Kieran Mulvey’s binding arbitration document changed the tone and guided the warring protagonists towards peaceful waters.
However, Teddy Holland’s statement on Friday night was a rocket that sent all media outlets in different directions. Meanwhile, I was happily tucking in to a thai chicken in a restaurant in Sandyford when I got the call. Within 12 hours I was heading southwards to the war ravaged southern capital.
