| This week: Super Tuesday |

TODAY is Super Tuesday in American presidential electioneering parlance. Obviously, if you’re not reading this on Tuesday, then it’s just Regular Wednesday, Humdrum Thursday, Insipid Friday, Sobering Saturday, Plodding Sunday or Monotone Monday. None of those days have a patch on Super Tuesday, which towers over all other weekdays with magisterial pomp, jutting out its lantern jaw, flexing its impressive muscles and kicking sand in the face of the other weekdays and stealing their girlfriends. If I could be any day, I’d be Super Tuesday. Aside from its general superiority to the other days, Super Tuesday is so called because it’s the day when up to 20 states will be voting to pick their presidential candidate in America’s convoluted and byzantine election system that no-one over here quite understands.
