The 19th (29/01/08)
Written by Joe O Muircheartaigh
FRIDAY was surely Kieren Fallon’s darkest hour, even if he could see it coming down the home straight for the last six months.
Henri Pouret, France Galop’s head of the rulebook and stewards’ secretariat department delivered the news: “The jockey Kieren Fallon has been suspended for a period of 18 months. However, he has already appealed and that is the reason why no statement has been issued by France Galop.
“Now our appeal commission at France Galop will meet and will examine the appeal. However, I cannot tell you right now when the appeal commission will meet. Usually a suspension will start nine days after the decision has been announced, but seeing that the person in question has appealed, those dates could change.”
