In light of the terrible nonsense that’s now occurring down Leeside-way with strikes and demands for people’s resignations, allow me the time and opportunity to give you a “feel good ” story today. It doesn’t involve men at all but mna na hÉireann - by far and away my favourite species on this earth! I have been in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates constituency since the early hours of last Wednesday morning and witnessed at first hand the most talented footballers in the land. They are also the most focussed with their own personal and collective motivations and ambitions cast aside for one week of reflection, enjoyment and, like the good old days, just the plain old fashioned concept of making friends. This is the way it should be. It has been refreshing and heart-warming to see intense rivals on the field of play for 11 months of the year cast all agendas or any pre-conceived notions about certain opponents aside for seven days.
