ONLY when casting an eye back over the pages that made up the sporting year that was 2007, does one fully realise and appreciate the fine mess that Clare GAA found itself in over the past 12 months. It was annus horribilis for sure – a nightmarish experience and existence for a county board that found itself embroiled in controversies all of it own making. Controversies engendered by the appointments of Tony Considine and Páidí Ó Sé to the hotseats of Clare hurling and football respectively. They were put in place by the county board amid great fanfare and publicity at the tail end of 2006 and hope floated among the football and hurling fraternities that new eras were at hand.
