A MAN called John Lovett presented himself in the front office the other day. You could say he was a man with a mission – even if the task he set himself was a simple enough one. He was in town for the afternoon and came by to pay thanks to The Clare People for being in Newmarket-on-Fergus the Monday night before for what was a special occasion. It was the day when Newmarket-on-Fergus GAA club went back to its roots – for this there wasn’t a hurler in sight, just talk about the game that put Newmarket on the GAA map in the first place.
