WORKING in Clare FM a few moons ago, I once made the mistake of reading out the wrong weather forecast on air.
The forecast went something along the lines of the following: wild Atlantic swells off the coast of Clare; gale force to storm force winds; driving rain and floods. Save a tsunami alert, it was as bad as it could get.
The day after the night before, the phone lines hopped for a few hours. Farmers were complaining bitterly about the misinformation on the radio – the storm never happened, there was no wind, the rain even stayed away while there were ripples instead of swells on the Atlantic.
