Cllr Flynn succeeds Fianna Fáil Councillor Clare Colleran Molloy in the role.

The Tulla Road resident’s appointment marks his second term as Ennis mayor, having last represented the county town in 2014.

Johnny Flynn’s recent re-election to the new 28-seat Clare County Council will see the Ennis man serve as a local representative for a fourth consecutive term after he was first elected as a councillor in 2004

Cllr Ann Norton (IND) has been elected Deputy Mayor, a role held by Councillor Paul Murphy (FG) for the past year.
