EXPERTS from leading industries are set to showcase a wide-range of courses and job opportunities to students from Shannon and further afield during the upcoming St Patrick’s Comprehensive School careers fair.

Up to 40 exhibitors from third level institutions, training centres, local companies and recruitment firms will be in attendance on the day, which takes place at the Shannon-based secondary school next Wednesday, April 3, from 4pm to 7pm.

In a bid to introduce students, past and present, and the wider community to numerous specialists and further assist them with their future prospects, the highly-anticipated event will promote courses and job opportunities available in the region.

The ‘Comp Careers Fair’ will also highlight the many prospects obtainable from established national and international businesses and leaders in the delivery of apprentice programmes.

The “exciting and innovative” initiative showcases St Patrick’s “long and proud” tradition of playing an integral role in the growth and development of Shannon as a centre of economic growth.

Furthermore, the career fair aims to further the school’s links with the local and wider community, and to enhance the educational opportunities and experiences of the young people of Shannon and its environs.

Ahead of the event, staff at Shannon Comp are working closely with Shannon Chamber of Commerce, in a bid to provide students and parents with this “unique opportunity”.

Included in the exhibitors will be leaders in the aviation, ICT, manufacturing, medical and pharmaceutical industries, who will join forces with experts from national universities, colleges, ITs, apprenticeships, ETB, recruitment agencies, army and the Gardaí.

Local businesses, employers and further education institutes are being encouraged to join Shannon Comp for an “exciting and ground-breaking” event, by registering details at [email protected]
