Clare man raises vital funds while completing 32 county challenge

Ryan Mulvany (25) recently completed the challenge of running in each county in Ireland while raising vital funds for Multiple Sclerosis Ireland (MS Ireland) and the Irish Society for Colitis and Crohns Disease (ISCC).

AN EAST CLARE man has completed a challenge of running in each of the 32 counties in Ireland in one year while raising much-needed funds for two chosen charities.

Finishing the impressive feat with his family in the Ballincolling parkrun in November, Ryan Mulvany helped raise awareness and crucial support for Multiple Sclerosis Ireland (MS Ireland) and the Irish Society for Colitis and Crohns Disease (ISCC).

“I spent the summer travelling the country through snowstorms and heatwaves and it wasn’t long before I was on my last race,” Ryan told The Clare People.

“I finished the running challenge in early November in Cork, running the final race alongside my family.

“I have had amazing support along the way which definitely helped keep my determination to complete the challenge going,” he added.

The 25-year-old East Clare native began the fundraising challenge during the first weekend in January in Wexford before finishing his 32nd county in Cork in November.

In a bid to show his appreciation for those who helped him along the way and to raise further funds, Ryan is hosting an evening to celebrate his achievement in Nuala’s Bar and Restaurant in Tuamgraney on Saturday, December 8, with food and music available on the night.

“Everyone is more than welcome to come along,” added Mr Mulvany. “There will be food and music on the night with an opportunity to donate to the challenge in person.”

An online donation can be made at with all funds raised spilt between the two worthy causes Multiple Sclerosis Ireland, and Irish Society of Colitis and Crohn’s (ISCC).
