East Clare councillor, Cathal Crowe, and Doonbeg businesswoman, Rita McInerney have both been added to the Fianna Fáil ticket for the upcoming general election in Clare.
The party’s National Constituencies Committee confirmed this morning, October 2, that the pair will join sitting TD and Spokesperson on Communications, Climate Action and Environment, Timmy Dooley on the ticket, following the withdrawal of Dr John Hillery last month.
“Fianna Fáil is running an incredibly strong ticket in the Clare constituency where we are determined to increase our number of seats. We are determined that Clare will have a second Fianna Fáil TD to join outgoing TD, Timmy Dooley in Dáil Éireann,” said Fianna Fáil Leader, Micheál Martin this morning.
“The county of Clare has, since the foundation of the State, been well represented by Fianna Fáil TDs. Starting with Éamon DeValera, Patrick Hillery, Sylvester Barrett, Bill Loughnane, Síle DeValera, Tony Killeen, Brendan Daly and most recently Timmy Dooley, Clare has provided our party with national politicians of immense calibre, and I have no doubt that come the next General Election, that will be replicated once again.”
