Kilmaley based brewery, Western Herd Brewing Company raised a glass this week to toast their double success in one of the world’s largest international beer competitions.
RateBeer Best compiles millions of beer reviews each year to report the very best beers, brewers and beer retailers in the world, and the Clare brewery rounded off a very successful 2017 being awarded a gold medal for its BackBeat Witbier, which was ranked in the top 5 Wheat Beers in the world, while their Pale Ale, Siege, received a silver medal placing it in the top 10.
Michael Eustace of Western Herd said, “We are delighted with these awards and to be ranked alongside some renowned international craft breweries is a great reward for all the work that we have been doing for the last 2 years. It’s especially rewarding for our head-brewer Ian Garry. We are looking forward to releasing more new beers again this year and starting our barrel ageing programme.”
Western Herd beers are widely available throughout the county including their own brew-pub, McHugh’s of Parnell Street, Ennis.
