After narrowly avoid total annihilation in 2011, the Fianna Fail party has returned to it’s pre-collapse position of dominance in Clare – claiming 31.08 per cent of the overall according to tallies this afternoon. Despite this return to form, the party are likely to find themselves in a battle for the forth and final seat and may not in the end improve on their share of the seats from 2011.

Fine Gael have dropped to 25.80 per cent of the vote with Independents on 23.02 per cent , Labour on 7.80 per cent, Sinn Fein on 7.27 per cent, The Green Party on 2.95 per cent and Fis Nua on 1.97 per cent.

Joe Carey (FG), Michael McDonagh (FF), Michael McNamara (LAB) and Noeleen Moran (SF) are all in contention for the final seat.
