With the identity of most of the key Clare general election candidates now known, the countdown to next years vote can begin in earnest. The election looks set to be the hottest contested in a generation with Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil battling for supremacy, Labour fighting to retain a Clare seat for the first ever time, Sinn Fein on the cusp of a historic breakthrough and a number of heavy weight Independents likely to be in contention at the business end of the count.
It’s time have your say. The Clare People Online Poll will run until midday, Monday October 26. The votes are restricted to one vote per IP address (internet connection), so multiple votes from the same device will not be accepted. Possible candidates, who have not yet confirmed their intention to run, are presented in bold. Full results will be in next Tuesday’s Clare People, October 27.
