Three units of Ennis Fire service attended a blaze at the former Ennis National School tonight after the alarm was raised at 9.30pm tonight.
Numerous callers reported a fire on the site of the former school, which, in fact turned out to be a large amount of rubbish burning against a wall at the rear of the school.
Extensive smoke damage has been caused to building, but the area has been vacant since September 2013.
Gardaí are investigating the incident.
