Clare County Council, following consultation with and on receipt of directions from Irish Water, is implementing a tankering arrangement in areas currently affected by water shortages brought about as a result of extensive power outages.

Clare County Council has also confirmed that water supplies to Shannon Town and Newmarket on Fergus will be restricted from 7:00 p.m. this evening until 8:00 a.m. tomorrow, Friday 14th February 2014.

A spokesperson said: “This restriction is until reservoir levels are sufficiently recharged following restoration of electricity supply to pumping stations and reservoirs. The ESB in conjunction with Irish Water are working on getting power back to these sites as soon as possible.”

Water tankers will be provided at the following locations today Thursday 13th February 2014:
· Shannon Fire Station 8:00 p.m. – 10:00p.m.
· Newmarket On Fergus (Church Carpark) 8:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (approx.)

Water tankers will be extended to 7:00 p.m. this evening at the following locations:
· Sixmilebridge (in the Square) 1:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (approx.)
· Killaloe (Supervalu Carpark) 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (approx)

Members of the public are requested to bring their own water containers.

Customers in the affected areas are advised to boil all water from tankers.
