The simple and clear message coming from Ennis Garda station this afternoon is to “stay inside and do not travel”.
Gardaí say there are too many roads in the jurisdiction closed to even list at the moment, and have warned people to stay where they are until the storm blows over.
Gardaí and emergency services are currently under pressure dealing with motor accidents, fallen electricity polls and fallen trees.
In the Kilrush Garda area, members of the force are also dealing with numerous road closures, fallen trees and debris.
There is currently an electricity pole down on the Quilty to Doonbeg Road, and there are two trees down on the Kilrush to Kilkee road.
The ESB have been called to the Killimer/Knockalough Road as there are sparks coming from electricity wires.
The Shannon to Sixmilebridge is also impassable.
