Clare’s Sean Hehir is celebrating today after taking the senior men’s title in the Dublin City Marathon in a time of 2:18:21. Hehir was in the leading group throughout, and made his move around the 20 mile mark. From here he held off his rivals to come home 1.08 minutes clear of his nearest rival Joe Sweeney. Sergiu Clobanu came home in third place.

Running for Rathfarnam, the Kilkishen athlete finished 13th last year, but more importantly, was the second Irish athlete home. He has now entered the history books by becoming the first Irish man to take the title in 20 years.

  1. Cousin? …. hope your luck runs off on me on Sunday!, when I run the NYC Marathon. (If I could run that time + an hour and 10 minutes, I’d be over the moon!)
