The waiting list for people in the Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary areas needing outpatient appointments for neurological illnesses has been described as a "national disgrace" by the Labour Party Health spokesperson, Jan O'Sullivan. The Health Service Executive (HSE) has confirmed that there are now 2,137 people on the outpatient waiting list with 638 of them waiting three years or longer for appointments. Stating that the present situation was an absolute disaster, Deputy O'Sullivan said that it as made even worse by the fact that people with neurological illnesses needed to be treated quickly.
