Very Rev. Liam Murray, who died today at his home in Killuran, O’Callaghan’s Mills,  served as priest of the Killaloe Diocese for 58 years. Born in 1926, he studied for the priesthood at St. Patrick's College, Maynooth where he was ordained in 1952. He served on the Emigrant Apostolate in the Diocese of Brentwood for four years before returning to become curate in Killanena in 1956. He was appointed curate in Whitegate in 1960 and in Castleconnell in 1965. He served there until 1969 when he was appointed curate in Cloughjordan. He was appointed Parish Priest of Coolmeen/Cranny in 1986 and moved to Mountshannon/Whitegate as Parish Priest in 1989 where he served until he retired in 1998. He remained as Assistant Pastor in Mountshannon until his death. His remains will be removed to St Flannan Church, Whitegate this evening with funeral prayers at 8.00 pm. Burial will take place tomorrow after funeral Mass at 3pm.
